Automated, stored offsite, and restore-tested. An untested backup is a guess.
Security hardening
Firewall, malware scanning, login protection. Most compromises come through known, patchable vulnerabilities.
Update schedule
Core, plugin and theme patches applied on a schedule. Security patches applied promptly, not batched.
Performance tuning
Core Web Vitals, caching, CDN. Speed treated as infrastructure, not an afterthought.
What is included
Hosting and setup
Infrastructure sized to actual traffic rather than to a plan name, with SSL, CDN and caching configured properly. Migration from your current host is handled by us, including the DNS cutover.
Uptime monitoring
Checked continuously with alerts to us, not just to you. The point of monitoring is that somebody who can fix it finds out first.
Backups
Automated, stored away from the server, and restore-tested. An untested backup is a guess, and the moment you need it is the wrong time to discover that.
Updates and patching
Core, plugin and theme updates applied on a schedule, staged first where the site is complex enough to warrant it. Security patches are applied promptly rather than batched.
Security
Firewall, malware scanning, login hardening and sensible file permissions. Most compromises we are called in to clean up came through a known vulnerability that had a patch available.
Performance
Core Web Vitals monitored and acted on, with image handling, caching and database maintenance kept in order as the site grows.
Small changes included
Content edits, new pages and minor fixes within a monthly allowance, so routine work does not turn into a quotation every time.

A site nobody was watching
What we found
The site had been down for most of a working day before anyone noticed, and it was a customer who reported it. There was no monitoring, and the last backup that could be located was months old.

Migrated to monitored hosting with alerting to us, automated offsite backups with restore testing, and a patching schedule.

The next outage lasted minutes rather than a day, and it was resolved before the client knew about it.
Years of unapplied updates
What we found
Plugins several major versions behind, some no longer maintained at all. Nobody had updated anything because the last attempt had broken the site and there was no staging environment to try it on.
What we built
A staging copy to test against, then updates applied in stages, with unmaintained plugins replaced rather than upgraded.
What changed
Updates became routine instead of a risk, and the known vulnerabilities were closed.
